Enjoy a day out roaming around Cannock Chase.

Let’s start at a 5* visit to McArthur Glen,  with 69 shopping Outlets to investigate.

Then a delightful little museum,  before taking a beautiful scenic drive around the wonderful views of the Chase, stopping for a G&T at The Horns Inn.

Hopefully you will then be ready for a gentle stroll at the Castle Hill old fort, before returning to McArthur Glen outlets

Mcarthur Glen outlets

    A delightful shopping experience

The shops open at 10.00am, and reasonably priced, with top named brands, and we personally love it here, easy to get around, busy but never overcrowded, very clean and well maintained. All on the level, 69 outlets to check out, and two toilet blocks, and our photos will hopefully help you.

Our favourite chocolate shop Lindt,  invites you to sample.

Disabled parking and far entry into the stores

Our advice to help you enjoy a day out at the outlet

McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, Haynes Way, Cannock, WS11 7JZ.

The  shops do not open until 10.00am but you can go and get a coffee break from 9.30. There are two coffee shops here, Starbucks and Coffee 200, both small but there are plenty of outdoor seating if needed. This break is an important part of your day out, so use either of the two very good coffee shops, both standing in one of two squares.

When you arrive at the huge car park, we suggest you follow the road round towards the CLOCK TOWER, and park in section “D” if you can. This is right by the main shopping street under the tower. The approach looks inviting, and a delight as you arrive, with many shops to browse through, BUT KEEP AN EYE ON THE TIME if you want to enjoy our full round trip. WE SUGGEST YOU TRY TO LEAVE BY 11.15. Thats not very long, but there is so much to go and see today, its a quick moving trip, but relaxing if you keep to our suggested time table.

All the buildings are different and very charactful. The whole village is spotlessly clean and very well maintained, and it’s so easy to move around, the whole complex has level walking with level access into all the shops.

There are two main toilet blocks situated throughout the village, all Disabled friendly as well, spotlessly clean and have regular checks made to see that all is ok.

FOR OUR SENIOR READERS AND DISABLED PEOPLE, we suggest you drive all the way to the furthest car park, where you will find many disabled bays, and other bays very handily situated to enter the street by SLIM CHICKENS restaurant. Just cross the road at the furthest spot along on the zebra crossing, follow path round to the left, and reach the shops by the restaurant.

What we do like about the shops is that they offer very good discounts at a fair price, any sale items are usually produced by the designer company, but under another name, so you know the quality will be just as good as the well known designer name. So look out for these offers. There are quite a number of outlets other than clothing, so can be interesting to quickly look at, and for this reason we strongly encourage to visit this delightful shopping village, its well worth the early start.

We have more information on Euan’s guide for Disabled people, please read these as they will be of help to you.

When you click and get on this website, in the search button,               Type in “McArthur Glen outlet” and then read all the reviews for “disabled traveller.”

Enjoy this visit, and if you take your time and walk along without stopping at to many stores, and you can possibly drag yourself away, we suggest you plan to depart at 11.15 am. But if a bit later, then you can gain the time again later on today.

Set your SatNav to        WS12 1TD

For your delightful drive past,    Satnav set to WS15 2UQ
but pass on bye.

The scenery on your ride around the area is beautiful, well worth seeing, but this car park area is geared towards the cyclist and its many trails, and best not to pull into the car park, it is photo controlled with car being recorded, and a charge of a miniumum of £3.oo will be recorded, SO DO NOT PARK HERE, JUST DRIVE PAST IT ON YOUR WAY TO THE NEXT DESTINATION.  (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)

The Horns Inn
Slitting Mill,    WS15 2UW

A traditional country pub, with nice views over a small lake,  a quiet and peaceful retreat just on the edge of the Chase.   This Dog friendly pub offers classic hearty food in pleasant a enough pub, with a beer garden and patio where you can sit back and enjoy a G&T after perhaps a lunch time menu.

Now visit,  Cannock Wood
Satnav set to.   WS15 4RN

Pull into Castle Ring car park,  junction of Holly Hill Road & Park Gate Road, Cannock Wood.  Its opposite the triangle.

The Path is reasonably easy to follow, and just a short walk to reach the Ring, you should manage a pleasant enough half hour stroll all the way around the ring, with some good views over the Chase, as this is the highest point in the chase, some 794 ft ( 242 m ) and its rough open lovely scenery as you wander back to the car.

Return to McArthur Glen
The last visit     WS11 7JZ

An 18 minute drive should see you back at McArthur Glen,  and a chance to pick up those items you wished you had time to do beforehand,  or to relax with a drink at one of the outlets, before making your way home.

The end of a delightful scenic drive, so now set SatNav    to take you home

We add a new trip each month so do remember to take a look.
